It was just another train journey. The movement of train, the noises of people, the typical ambiance and the familiar crowd - none of them were strange to me. However, I wished that the train moved faster, the people were easy with their gossips, the environment smelled better and the available space could accommodate all passengers comfortably...
I noticed the people, old and young, seated around me. Some young girls giggling, some old men thinking and some mid-aged disagreeing with each other. Some were cautious of their luggage, others were glossed on their mobile screens, and yet others were able to strike a conversation, perhaps to kill time. Here, I remember an aphorism: "Do not waste time, you do not even know how much you have".
As scheduled, the train stopped at Maninagar station in Ahmadabad. A stream of crowd swelled from inside the train to get down at the station and the crowd waiting at the platform matched this strength. Many Indian names started to float in the air. There started a competition for embarking and disembarking the train. I was seated content as I had to get down at the next station which also happened to be the last station for the train.
At that moment, I saw a face at the window that I could recognize. The lady seated in front of me, who just got down at the platform, was shouting something that many were not paying attention to. The train was about to move. Oh, her daughter was still inside the train, asleep at the top seats.
We quickly tried to pull the girl from the seat, but asleep she was, not able to understand what was happening, did not cooperate with us. Her mother continued to cry and shout. We finally succeeded to pull the girl by force and I ensured that, piercing the crowd, I could land her on the platform. The moment I alighted, the train gained momentum. I could just hand over the girl and was able to quickly board the train. Standing at the foothold, I saw the woman scolding her daughter in frustration.
I wish I could meet that woman again in my lifetime. I asked, how can a woman forget that she is a mother and she is traveling with her child? People started to gossip again.

Thanks Ankit, come to Ahmadabad, you will also get to have such experiences!
it is very shamless 4 a women...
@Anonymous Maybe shameless (not sure) but definitely careless.
No doubt she was careless but sometimes when emotions overflow humans do act differently..May be the mother was in such a state that all she did at that time was scolding her daughter..may be she wanted to scold herself but scolded her daughter instead..We as human often lose control over our emotions...
@Harshita Srivastava You are correct Harshita, but it still remains strange to me that a mother can forget she is travelling with her daughter. ...and emotions are emotions, always.
